While my design process is likely a good foundation for a large scale water collection system, I found that manipulating these materials for a model was more difficult than originally planned.
The construction took longer than anticipated, and more research needs to be done to find more appropriate materials.
It is not a good idea to use the metal gauze, but rather finding something more malleable such as the soft screening on screen doors or netting (like in the second tank) would be better.
More research also needs to go into finding both a material and technique to make an 'outlet' hole for the 'pipe.' Perhaps a thicker container that is less brittle, and the possibility of using a drill would be a good place to start the research.
The design of the roof and guttering went well, as did the angle of the filter. All the debris flowed through the pipe, onto the gauze and most slid off the gauze to the ground.
