I am excited to begin the digital technology elements of this subject as it continues to build on the problem solving and enquiry based skills that were used in the design part of the course. I am particularly eager as I enjoy solving problems, love to know how things work, and once I begin a project I can be determined, to the point of stubbornness to finish it.
I have very little experience with digital technologies, and have never had an opportunity to experiment with coding programs. When I have worked my children's toys (mainly to fix them or figure out how to work them) I have enjoy exploring and experimenting with how they work. I have worked with basic sound and video editing software, as well as the basic phone, IPad and computer experience that we used in our everyday life to work, study and socialize.
I look forward to learning through new experiences with digital design and technology, which will not only teach me more about myself, but also develop a better understanding of the curriculum and how to improve my pedagogy to deliver this element of the curriculum in an engaging and meaningful way.

Unfortunately I have not yet participated in practicum but have a little experience as a teacher assistant for a short period. Consequently, I understand that the standard written essay for assessment in high school is almost extinct, and has been replaced with multimodal presentations in which students skills vary from very little to students whose depth of knowledge far surpasses my own, making it challenging for teachers to impart a curriculum that enriches all students learning equally.
As a primary school teacher I hope to develop a pedagogy that enriches students learning by creating a curriculum that is meaningful and relevant. I hope to build on students current skills, using their previous experience from home and school to develop a deeper understanding about the processes and skills for digital and design technologies. As well as a desire to question, experiment and problem solve, not only design and technology in the classroom, but to develop this frame of mind for all aspects of their lives.
